Ingredients

  • 2 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts for leaner protein)
  • 1 cup brown rice (uncooked)
  • 1.5 cups chopped carrots
  • 1 cup peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 3 cups low-sodium chicken broth or water
  • 1 tbsp fish oil (added after cooking)

Equipment

  • pressure cooker (Instant Pot or similar)
  • cutting board & knife
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • forks or meat claws for shredding
  • mixing spoon
  • storage containers

Method

  1. Add chicken, rice, carrots, peas, and broth (or water) to your pressure cooker.
  2. Lock the lid and cook on high pressure for 20 minutes.
  3. Let pressure naturally release for 10 minutes, then quick release any remaining pressure.
  4. Shred the chicken, stir everything together, and allow to cool.
  5. Stir in fish oil once cooled slightly. Portion and serve; refrigerate or freeze leftovers.

Notes

Use low-sodium broth or water. Add fish oil only after the food cools slightly to preserve nutrients. Avoid onions, garlic, excess salt, or any ingredients not safe for dogs. Transition from commercial food gradually over 7–10 days. For a fully balanced diet, ask your vet about adding a canine multivitamin or recipe-specific supplement.
