Rice & Turkey Gentle Mash

A classic, vet-recommended recovery meal for dogs — soft, bland, and easy to digest. Lean turkey and rice form the gentle base, while pumpkin and carrots add soothing fiber and nutrients.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey (93% lean or higher)
  • 1 cup white rice, cooked until very soft
  • 1/2 cup plain canned pumpkin (not pie filling)
  • 1/4 cup carrots, steamed and finely chopped
  • 1 Calcium supplement (vet-approved dosage)

Method
 

  1. Cook the turkey in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until no pink remains. Drain any excess liquid.
  2. Cook the rice until very soft, almost mushy.
  3. Steam and finely chop the carrots.
  4. Mix the turkey, rice, pumpkin, and carrots together in a large bowl.
  5. Allow to cool slightly, then stir in the calcium supplement.

Notes

Ideal after surgery, illness, or digestive upset. Always cool food before serving and consult your vet for supplement dosing. Divide daily portions into 3–4 smaller meals for easier digestion during recovery.
