Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey (93% lean or higher)
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1/2 cup plain canned pumpkin (not pie filling)
  • 1/4 cup steamed green beans, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp ground flaxseed (optional)
  • 1 Calcium supplement (per vet guidance)

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet
  • steamer or pot for green beans
  • Mixing bowl
  • serving containers

Method

  1. Brown the turkey in a non-stick skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Don’t add oil or butter.
  2. Steam the green beans until soft but still bright green.
  3. Mix the cooked turkey, rice, pumpkin, green beans, and flaxseed in a large bowl.
  4. Let cool slightly, then stir in the calcium supplement just before serving.
  5. Portion based on your dog’s size and store leftovers in an airtight container (fridge: 3 days, freezer: 1 month).

Notes

Always consult your vet before switching to a homemade diet. For extra omega-3s, consider adding a splash of flaxseed or fish oil (vet-approved). Cool fully before serving and divide into 2 meals/day for better digestion.
